Biography

I specialize in animal welfare and behaviour, with a particular focus on farmed poultry. My work explores how animals interact with and adapt to their environments, emphasizing their behavioural (e.g., fear behaviour) and physiological (e.g., skeletal) development. I investigate how the complexity of the rearing environment and the trajectory of sexual maturation influence developmental outcomes. Additionally, I am interested in individual variation and the role of genetic factors in behavioural and physical traits. I am particularly drawn to interdisciplinary collaborations that integrate perspectives from ethology, physiology, nutrition, and endocrinology to advance holistic approaches to research and practice. My research aims to inform and improve welfare practices in poultry farming by deepening understanding of the environmental and biological factors that shape animal behaviour.
