In the present clinical post-marketing surveillance, the local anesthetic Ubistesin 1: 400 000 was investigated with regard to its period of effectiveness. The aim of the present study was to evaluate its anesthetic properties together with its clinical field of application. A total of 515 teeth (in 380 patients) were treated. Main areas of indication for Ubistesin 1: 400 000 were periodontal treatment procedures (n = 245), preparation of cavities (n = 162) and filling techniques (n = 39). The mean period of anesthesia lasted 162 minutes. The sensations of pain experienced by the patients varied between 37 minutes and 7.5 hours. The results of this present clinical post-marketing surveillance with Ubistesin 1: 400 000, a local anesthetic with only a small amount of adjunctive vasoconstrictor, confirm that it can be recommended for clinical application.
