Dr. Azizan Marzuki joined USM in 2009 after completing his PhD at Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia. Prior to joining the institution, he worked with the Malaysian Town and Country Planning Department from 1993 until 2001. He was also attached to the Faculty of English, Humanities, Law, and Theology at Flinders University, Australia, as an adjunct lecturer from 2009 until 2018. Currently, he is an academic advisor for the Urban Planning Programme with POLIMAS, and the Tourism and Hospitality courses assessor with UiTM and UUM. Since 2017, he has been appointed by the Malaysian Town and Country Planning Department as an expert panel member for SIA evaluation and a committee member for the SIA competency course. His area of specialization is tourism planning and development, and urban and regional planning, but his research interests cover a wider area such as public participation in the decision-making process, environmental and social impact assessments, and quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
