My research investigates climate change impacts and adaptive solutions in agriculture from interdisciplinary perspectives. I quantify responses of crop phenology, yield and quality to rising temperatures, altered rainfall patterns and extreme weather events (frost, heatwaves, drought), focusing on the interplay between climate variability and agronomic management. My adaptation research develops low-cost, practical measures such as cultivar breeding selection, adjusted sowing schedules, improved irrigation and redesigned rotations, to boost farm system resilience while sustaining high productivity and resource efficiency.
By integrating process-based crop models, machine learning and spatial analytics, I project future production risks under multiple climate scenarios, identify vulnerable agricultural regions and prioritize effective interventions. Future work will integrate socioeconomic contexts and farmer decision behaviour into risk assessment frameworks, narrowing the divide between academic outputs and real-world farm adoption. Cumulatively, my research establishes an integrated framework to support climate-smart farming, agricultural disaster prevention and long-term sustainable food production in China and worldwide.
