This paper presents a comparative study between two maximum power point tracking (MPPT) methods in Matlab/Simulink program that are perturb-and-observe method and incremental conductance method. Starting from the implemented model of the photovoltaic (PV) array together with the buck converter and its MPPT control have been simulated the PV systems with both MPPT algorithms at different solar radiation and temperature, and finally are presented the simulations result depending on irradiance and temperature.

This study analyzes various anti-islanding (AI) protection relays when the islanding condition of Grid-Tied PV (photovoltaic) System appears at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) between the PV Solar Power System and the power grid. The main purpose of the study is to determine the performance of several AI prevention schemes in detecting the presence of an island, by monitoring the detection time of the islanding condition through different methods. The devices used to implement the methods include over-current and under-current (OI/UI) relays, over-voltage and under-voltage (OV/UV) relays, over-frequency and under-frequency (OF/UF) relays, rate of change of frequency (ROCOF) and Vector Shift relays. The protection was tested in case of complete disconnection of the PV system from the electric power grid and also in case of various grid faults.

This study presents the performance of a novel hybrid islanding detection method for multi‐single‐phase photovoltaic (PV) inverters based on the combination of four active methods and three passive methods. Although islanding detection in PV multi‐inverter systems has been widely researched, most islanding studies are focused on three‐phase inverters, rather than single‐phase ones. In this study, different active and passive methods are used to detect the islanding of four paralleled single‐phase PV inverters. By combining those methods synergistically, it reduces their weakness of each method, while combining their advantages. The novelty of the proposed system methodology consists of four paralleled single‐phase inverters equipped with four different active methods, namely active frequency drift, Sandia frequency shift (SFS), sliding mode frequency shift, and Sandia voltage shift triggered by a block composed of three passive methods: voltage frequency protection, rate of change of frequency, and DC‐link. This novel hybrid system is studied under different detailed scenarios, where it shows its performance and characteristics.

This paper presents an analysis in Matlab/ Simulink environment of a three-phase photovoltaic (PV) system under various types of symmetrical and asymmetrical grid faults. The fault response performance of the PV system takes into consideration the factors of ambient temperature and solar irradiance, grid codes, power control strategies, and utility grid conditions. Grid fault types occurring at different distances from the point of common coupling (PCC) of the PV system are simulated. The simulations presented in this paper show that the short circuit faults in the power grid have disturbing effects on optimal operation of grid-connected PV systems. The impact of grid faults on the PV systems performance depends on the grid fault type, and is less influenced by the distance of the fault occurrence. Symmetrical faults have a higher impact on performance than asymmetrical faults, both at the PCC and inside the PV system.
