Benjamin Himpel started studying mathematics and computer science in Berlin and received my PhD in Mathematics from Indiana University Bloomington in 2004. During his postdoctoral years at Max-Planck-Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, Bonn University and Aarhus University his research focus was geometric topology, in particular Chern-Simons gauge theory and topological quantum field theory. From 2012 until 2018 he worked as a senior researcher at TWT GmbH Science & Innovation before he became a professor for applied computer science at Reutlingen University. His research focus is on Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Geometry and Music.
