Bie Kang received his bachelor’s degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2012. He was admitted to graduate studies without entrance examination and qualified for direct admission to a doctoral program, earning his Ph.D. in Thermal Engineering from HUST in 2019. From 2019 to 2022, he conducted postdoctoral research at HUST. He is currently a Special Research Associate at the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research primarily focuses on the planning and operation optimization of integrated electricity–heat–hydrogen multi-energy systems, renewable power–hydrogen–storage coupled systems, and high-temperature fuel cells as well as direct carbon fuel cells.
He has led four research projects, including a self-directed project funded by the State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion (HUST), a project supported by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, a Basic and Applied Basic Research Project of Guangzhou, and a science and technology project of China Southern Power Grid. He has also participated in two science and technology projects of Guangdong Power Grid Corporation, one key research and development program of Guangdong Province, and one project under the Science and Technology Innovation 2030 initiative. He has authored or co-authored 11 SCI/EI indexed papers, including one highly cited paper. He holds 16 invention patent applications, four of which have been granted.
