My main research areas include (1) the effects of forest/rangeland management – including the use of nonnative plant species – on biodiversity, (2) the definition of conservation and restoration targets, (3) the use of surrogates for conservation and restoration planning of degraded forests and steppe rangelands, (4) the grazing ecology of livestock in arid and semi-arid steppe rangelands and interactions with forestry, (5) the community ecology of plants, insects and birds in semi-arid lands.
