Biography

Dr. Daniela Igartúa is an Adjunct Researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), Argentina. Throughout her scientific career, she has led and participated in numerous research projects focused on the encapsulation of bioactives within dispersed systems, including protein-polysaccharide particles, dendrimers, emulsions, liposomes, and magnetic particles. She possesses extensive expertise in experimental techniques for characterizing dispersed systems, such as UV-Vis, fluorescence, FTIR, dynamic and static light scattering, and microscopy. Her work also encompasses evaluating bioactive encapsulation—focusing on encapsulation efficiency, loading capacity, and controlled release profiles—as well as the biochemical and toxicological characterization of these systems through in vitro eukaryotic cell cultures, ex vivo human red blood cells, and in vivo zebrafish animal models. In terms of leadership and academia, she serves as Co-Director of a UNQ Research Project and was the Principal Investigator of a PICT Jóvenes grant. Additionally, Dr. Igartúa is an Instructor Professor of Food Chemistry for the Food Engineering program at the National University of Quilmes (UNQ), teaches postgraduate courses, and supervises postgraduate theses, undergraduate final projects, and academic teaching assistants.
