Devan R. Romero is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at California State University San Marcos, prior to tenure, she was an Assistant Professor from 2011 to 2017. She completed her DrPH in Health Education and Promotion at Loma Linda University in 2010, MS in Kinesiology at Cal State Fullerton in 2004, and BS in Exercise Science at Barry University in 2002. Her research focuses on tobacco science related to health disparities and examining substance use and effects on physical and mental health outcomes in vulnerable populations. She is a Co-Investigator on a Randomized Behavioral Control Switching Trial investigating unfiltered cigarette smoking and is currently investigating markers of respiratory health among migrant farmworkers related to pesticide exposure. She is a member of the Society for Research in Nicotine or Tobacco, American Public Health Association, and the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science.
