She holds a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition from the Universidad Veracruzana and holds both a Master's and a PhD in Neuroscience. She completed her postdoctoral studies at the Department of Neuroimmunology, Stress, and Endocrinology, School of Psychology, University of Ottawa, Canada. In 2016, she was repatriated to Mexico through the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACYT) and has since held the position of Full-time Research Professor "C" at the Brain Research Institute of the Universidad Veracruzana. Her research focuses on understanding the neuroendocrine bases underlying the obesity-stress-cancer triad, aiming to comprehend the mechanisms linking these factors in the development of chronic diseases.
