Kubernetes, a container orchestration tool for automatically installing and managing Docker containers, has recently begun to support a federation function of multiple Docker container clusters. This technology, called Kubernetes Federation, allows developers to increase the responsiveness and reliability of their applications by distributing and federating container clusters to multiple service areas of cloud service providers. However, it is still a daunting task to manually manage federated container clusters across all the service areas or to maintain the entire topology of cloud applications at a glance. This research work proposes a method to automatically form and monitor Kubernetes Federation, given application topology descriptions in TOSCA (Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications), by extending the orchestration tool that automatizes the modeling and instantiation of cloud applications. It also demonstrates the successful federation of the clusters according to the TOSCA specifications and verifies the auto-scaling capability of the configured system through a scenario in which the servers of a sample application are deployed and federated.
Behavioral studies suggest that human cognitive development begins in the early developmental stage. However, owing to technical and ethical difficulties, there is limited knowledge on how embodied interaction contributes to early human development. Accordingly, constructive approaches for deepening the understanding of cognitive development are gaining attention in developmental robotics and dynamic systems. In this study, we performed a biologically plausible simulation of early human development, by updating the fetal simulation model that was developed in our previous study including a musculoskeletal body and uterine environment model. First, we updated the dynamics of the joints and muscles. Furthermore, we developed a new method to create soft objects of the desired shape in a rigid body simulator to achieve a soft uterine model. Subsequently, in a new simulation, we examined the impact of the soft uterine environment on the tactile experiences and subsequent cortical learning, compared to the extant uterine model and extrauterine environment. We observed that the soft uterine environment provided frequent and varied tactile information, which facilitated cortical learning toward achieving a higher cortical response to sensory inputs. Furthermore, we demonstrated that the embodied structure induced by the tactile sensor arrangement was crucial for cortical learning. Because actual fetuses and infants participate in flexible interactions, the proposed simulation using the soft environment could illuminate developmental care in the medical field.

Infants often exhibit goal‐directed behaviors, such as reaching for a sensory stimulus, even when no external reward criterion is provided. These intrinsically motivated behaviors facilitate spontaneous exploration and learning of the body and environment during early developmental stages. Although computational modeling can offer insight into the mechanisms underlying such behaviors, many existing studies on intrinsic motivation focus primarily on how exploration contributes to acquiring external rewards. In this paper, we propose a novel density model for an agent's own multimodal sensory experiences, called the “self‐prior,” and investigate whether it can autonomously induce goal‐directed behavior. Integrated within an active inference framework based on the free energy principle, the self‐prior generates behavioral references purely from an intrinsic process that minimizes mismatches between average past sensory experiences and current observations. This mechanism is also analogous to the acquisition and utilization of a body schema through continuous interaction with the environment. We examine this approach in a simulated environment and confirm that the agent spontaneously reaches toward a tactile stimulus. Our study implements intrinsically motivated behavior shaped by the agent's own sensory experiences, demonstrating the spontaneous emergence of intentional behavior during early development. Summary: Suggests a computational model for early intentional behavior, integrating body‐schema formation and goal‐directed actions under the free energy principle. Introduces a self‐prior as an internal density model that drives the emergence of goal‐directed behaviors without external rewards. Demonstrates spontaneous reaching for a sticker by minimizing mismatches between observed multimodal sensory inputs and the empirically acquired self‐prior.
