Biography
Prof. Anil Sukumaran, BDS, MDS, PhD, FRCPath, FDS RCS (Edin), FDS RCPS (Glas), FICD, FPFA | www.anilonline.com Sukumaran Anil is Adjunct Professor at the Center of Excellence in Precision Medicine and Digital Health, Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, and Visiting Research Professor at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diseases, University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital. He is also Adjunct Professor at Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, India, and Associate Editor of the International Dental Journal (FDI/Elsevier). He was previously Professor, Senior Consultant, and Chairman of the Hospital Research Committee at Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar (2019 to 2026), with earlier professorships in Saudi Arabia and India. He earned his PhD from the University of Hong Kong (2002) and his BDS and MDS (Periodontology) from the University of Kerala. With over 40 years in periodontology, implant dentistry, and oral microbiology, he has authored about 484 publications, including 369 peer-reviewed articles, 6 books, and 66 book chapters, and is listed among the Stanford/Elsevier World's Top 2% Most-Cited Researchers. His research covers osseointegration and implant surfaces, dental biomaterials, salivary biomarkers (aMMP-8), and periodontal-systemic links. He supervises doctoral candidates at the University of Helsinki.
