This paper proposes a high-performance indirect control scheme for torque ripple minimization in the switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive system. Firstly, based on the nonlinear torque-angle characteristic of SRM, a novel torque sharing function is developed to obtain the optimal current profiles such that the torque ripple is minimized with reduced copper losses. Secondly, in order to track current accurately and indirectly achieve high-performance torque control, a robust current controller is derived through the Lyapunov stability theory. The proposed robust current controller not only considers the motor parameter modeling errors but also realizes the fixed frequency current control by introducing the pulse width modulation method. Further, a disturbance-observer-based speed controller is derived to regulate the motor speed accurately, and the load torque is considered an unknown disturbance. The simulations and experiments on a 1.5 kW SRM prototype are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed high-performance indirect torque control strategy. Results verify the superiority of the proposed strategy with respect to the torque ripple suppression, system efficiency, and antidisturbance.

In this paper, a single-phase doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) motor is discussed. The motor has four stator poles and six rotor poles. Different air-gaps are arranged under stator poles for the purpose of starting. The parking position is in the effective torque zone of the winding. The motor has a simple and robust structure. The principle of operation, modeling and finite element analysis of the motor are investigated in the paper. Experimental results for a prototype machine are also presented.

In this paper, we aim to address the limited capacity of compensation devices by enhancing their utilization rate by applying the currents’ physical component (CPC) theory for reactive power optimization in three-phase four-wire systems. When reactive currents cannot be fully compensated for, we propose using CPC theory to generate reference currents for the compensation devices. Weight coefficients associated with different reactive current components are introduced, enabling flexible combinations of these independent current components. The maximum output amplitude of the three-phase current from the compensation device serves as a constraint condition, allowing for the calculation of reference currents under various compensation targets. Additionally, a reactive current optimization compensation scheme focusing on loss reduction is selected. The simulated annealing–particle swarm optimization (SA-PSO) hybrid algorithm is employed to solve the optimization mathematical model. The discussed calculations, current waveforms, and voltage waveforms are generated using the constructed mathematical model and then used for a theoretical explanation. The simulation verifies the feasibility of the proposed method.

Grid-forming virtual synchronous generator control can improve the frequency-support capability of converter-interfaced systems. However, under successive disturbances and varying operating conditions, fixed inertia and damping settings often struggle to balance inertial response, oscillation suppression, and recovery speed. To address this issue, this paper develops an adaptive parameter coordination strategy for grid-forming virtual synchronous generators by using frequency deviation and rate of change of frequency as dynamic indicators. A piecewise regulation law is established to adjust virtual inertia and damping during different transient stages, while an improved parrot optimization algorithm is introduced for the offline coordinated tuning of the adaptive-law parameters. In the proposed optimizer, SPM-chaotic initialization, adaptive probability adjustment, and Cauchy-Gaussian hybrid mutation are incorporated to improve population diversity, convergence efficiency, and local refinement capability. Simulation results obtained in MATLAB/Simulink under successive disturbance events show that the proposed strategy achieves smaller frequency excursions, weaker secondary oscillations, and shorter settling times than fixed-parameter control and standard PO-based tuning. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively enhance the dynamic support capability and disturbance adaptability of grid-forming virtual synchronous generators under complex operating conditions.
