Biography

I’m a pharmacist with a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Beni-Suef University, completed through a joint Egypt–U.S. program. During my PhD, I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to conduct research at LA BioMed (now The Lundquist Institute), where I focused on antibody-based therapies against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. I later continued in the same lab with a postdoctoral fellowship, advancing work on vaccine development. A second postdoc, funded by CIRM, allowed me to pivot toward regenerative medicine, using iPSCs to study lung repair in mucormycosis. Currently, I’m developing a murine neutropenic mucormycosis model to explore disease mechanisms and therapies. I’m now transitioning into a faculty position, with continued focus on translational research in infectious diseases.
