Machine learning applications are having a great impact on the global economy by transforming the data processing method and decision making. Agriculture is one of the fields where the impact is significant, considering the global crisis for food supply. This research investigates the potential benefits of integrating machine learning algorithms in modern agriculture. The main focus of these algorithms is to help optimize crop production and reduce waste through informed decisions regarding planting, watering, and harvesting crops. This paper includes a discussion on the current state of machine learning in agriculture, highlighting key challenges and opportunities, and presents experimental results that demonstrate the impact of changing labels on the accuracy of data analysis algorithms. The findings recommend that by analyzing wide-ranging data collected from farms, incorporating online IoT sensor data that were obtained in a real-time manner, farmers can make more informed verdicts about factors that affect crop growth. Eventually, integrating these technologies can transform modern agriculture by increasing crop yields while minimizing waste. Fifteen different algorithms have been considered to evaluate the most appropriate algorithms to use in agriculture, and a new feature combination scheme-enhanced algorithm is presented. The results show that we can achieve a classification accuracy of 99.59% using the Bayes Net algorithm and 99.46% using Naïve Bayes Classifier and Hoeffding Tree algorithms. These results will indicate an increase in production rates and reduce the effective cost for the farms, leading to more resilient infrastructure and sustainable environments. Moreover, the findings we obtained in this study can also help future farmers detect diseases early, increase crop production efficiency, and reduce prices when the world is experiencing food shortages.

Due to the increasing global population and the growing demand for food worldwide as well as changes in weather conditions and the availability of water, artificial intelligence (AI) such as expert systems, natural language processing, speech recognition, and machine vision have changed not only the quantity but also the quality of work in the agricultural sector. Researchers and scientists are now moving toward the utilization of new IoT technologies in smart farming to help farmers use AI technology in the development of improved seeds, crop protection, and fertilizers. This will improve farmers’ profitability and the overall economy of the country. AI is emerging in three major categories in agriculture, namely soil and crop monitoring, predictive analytics, and agricultural robotics. In this regard, farmers are increasingly adopting the use of sensors and soil sampling to gather data to be used by farm management systems for further investigations and analyses. This article contributes to the field by surveying AI applications in the agricultural sector. It starts with background information on AI, including a discussion of all AI methods utilized in the agricultural industry, such as machine learning, the IoT, expert systems, image processing, and computer vision. A comprehensive literature review is then provided, addressing how researchers have utilized AI applications effectively in data collection using sensors, smart robots, and monitoring systems for crops and irrigation leakage. It is also shown that while utilizing AI applications, quality, productivity, and sustainability are maintained. Finally, we explore the benefits and challenges of AI applications together with a comparison and discussion of several AI methodologies applied in smart farming, such as machine learning, expert systems, and image processing.

The agricultural sector is undergoing a transformative paradigm shift with the integration of advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance data analysis techniques and streamline decision-making processes. This paper delves into the integration of advanced technologies in agriculture, focusing specifically on optimizing data analysis through artificial intelligence (AI) to strengthen decision-making processes in farming. We present a novel AI-powered model that leverages historical agricultural datasets, utilizing a comprehensive array of established machine learning algorithms to enhance the prediction and classification of agricultural data. This work provides tailored algorithm recommendations, bypassing the need to deploy and fine-tune numerous algorithms. We approximate the accuracy of suitable algorithms, highlighting those with the highest precision, thus saving time by leveraging pre-trained AI models on historical agricultural data. Our method involves three phases: collecting diverse agricultural datasets, applying multiple classifiers, and documenting their accuracy. This information is stored in a CSV file, which is then used by AI classifiers to predict the accuracy of new, unseen datasets. By evaluating feature information and various data segmentations, we recommend the configuration that achieves the highest accuracy. This approach eliminates the need for exhaustive algorithm reruns, relying on pre-trained models to estimate outcomes based on dataset characteristics. Our experimentation spans various configurations, including different training–testing splits and feature sets across multiple dataset sizes, meticulously evaluated through key performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F-measure. The experimental results underscore the efficiency of our model, with significant improvements in predictive accuracy and resource utilization, demonstrated through comparative performance analysis against traditional methods. This paper highlights the superiority of the proposed model in its ability to systematically determine the most effective algorithm for specific agricultural data types, thus optimizing computational resources and improving the scalability of smart farming solutions. The results reveal that the proposed system can accurately predict a near-optimal machine learning algorithm and data structure for crop data with an accuracy of 89.38%, 87.61%, and 84.27% for decision tree, random forest, and random tree algorithms, respectively.

Watermarking is identified as a major technology to achieve copyright protection and multimedia security. Therefore, recent studies in literature include some evident approaches for embedding data into a multimedia element. Because of its useful frequency component separation, the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is commonly used in watermarking schemes. In a DWT-based scheme, the DWT coefficients are modified with the data that represents the watermark. In this paper, we present a hybrid non-blind scheme based on DWT and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). After decomposing the cover image into four sub bands (LL, HL, LH and HH), we apply the SVD to LL band and modify diagonal singular value coefficients with the watermark itself by using a scaling factor. Finally, LL band coefficients are reconstructed with modified singular values and inverse DWT is applied to obtain watermarked image. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is considerably robust and reliable. In comparison to the previous literature, peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) values of watermarked images are increased by approximately 20%. In terms of PSNR values before and after attacks and of normalized similarity ratio (NSR); although watermark is embedded into LL sub band; our proposed method gives much more satisfactory results on filtering, scaling, Gaussian, JPEG compression, rotation and cropping than that of previous literature

In this paper, a single image dehazing technique using dual transmission maps strategy and gradient-domain guided image filtering is presented. A new strategy is adopted to compute the dual transmission maps using the dark channel and atmospheric light. Further, the transmission maps are refined to remove any remaining ill effects using the gradient-domain-guided filter. Finally, using the dark channel, atmospheric light, and refined transmission map, the haze-free image is obtained. The dual transmission maps strategy not only removes halo artifacts and reduces the saturation but also ensures the natural appearance in the recovered images. Furthermore, the proposed scheme is evaluated using a wide range of images and compared with state-of-the-art schemes. The comparison shows the superiority of the proposed technique in terms of recovering haze-free images.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Early diagnosis significantly improves the 5-year survival rate from 6% in patients with metastatic cancer to 60% in those with localized cancer. Histopathological examination is the gold standard for lung cancer diagnosis, but analyzing whole slide images (WSI) is time-consuming and prone to error for pathologists. This study aims to enhance the classification accuracy of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) histopathological images by proposing a novel deep-learning architecture that integrates convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and vision transformers (ViTs). The model classifies NSCLC into three categories: normal, adenocarcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma. CNNs are employed to capture local features, while ViTs are used to understand long-range relationships between image patches. We trained and validated our model on the LC25000 dataset, a benchmark dataset for NSCLC histopathology image classification. Our proposed model demonstrated superior performance, achieving an accuracy of 0.988, an F-1 score of 0.980, specificity of 0.991, recall of 0.982, and precision of 0.980, outperforming existing state-of-the-art methods. Additionally, our model achieved a low inference time of 1.816 ms, highlighting its potential for real-world applications where both accuracy and speed are critical. We will make our code publicly available to facilitate further research and validation of our findings.
