Prof Evans Chirwa is an NRF-rated Professor and Rand Water Chair in Water Utilisation at the University of Pretoria. His core research on advanced materials for water treatment and pollution prevention has been published in 300 journal articles, 12 book chapters and 87 full-length conference proceedings. His work has been cited 3300 times (Google Scholar h-index 28). He has mentored 10 postdocs in his career, and has supervised to completion 24 PhDs, 54 MSc/MEng and has trained over 660 BEng/BSc Hons over a period of 19 years. Prof Chirwa was awarded Senior Fellow of the Water Institute of Southern Africa (SFWISA) in May 2021 and was awarded First Prize (Winner) in the National Science Technology (NSTF-South32) Water Research Commission Award in 2022. Prof Chirwa is an active Registered Professional Engineer in three countries: USA (State of Maryland), Republic of South Africa, and Republic of Malawi.
