Bachelor in Biology from the University of Brasília (1994), MSc and PhD in Microbiology, Immunology and Parasitology from the Federal University of São Paulo (1998, 2001). He did a postdoctoral internship at the Pasteur Institute / France (2003). He develops translational research on tropical diseases, with an emphasis on understanding the immunopathological aspects of Malaria and ZIKA, as well as discovering new drugs. He was an advisor on International Relations at UNICAMP (2010-2012), coordinator of the graduate program in Genetics and Molecular Biology (CAPES 7) at IB (2016-2018) and was a member of the Advisory Committee (CA) on Microbiology and Immunology from CNPq (2017-2018). He is currently a member of FAPESP's Health Advisory Coordination. He is Academic Editor of PLoS One and Frontiers in Immunology and Associate Editor of Frontiers in Microbiology-Infectious Diseases. He is a CNPq level 1C researcher and Full Professor in Parasitology at UNICAMP.
