Francisco Brito is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) of the University of Minho (UM), Guimarães, Portugal, and an integrated researcher at MEtRICs (DEM, UM). He currently heads the Laboratory of Mobility and Applied Thermodynamics (LaMoTA) and is the Director of the BSc in Mechanical Engineering at UM. He has lectured in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, and Materials Engineering at UM, the University of Aveiro, and the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, among others, in areas such as energy conversion and storage, applied thermodynamics, heat transfer, combustion, and propulsion. His research focuses on high-performance cooling with microchannels and micro-texturing (e.g., for EV fast chargers), thermal control using heat pipes and thermosiphons, vehicle energy assessment, conventional, hybrid, and electric propulsion, high-efficiency engines, alternative fuels, compressed-CO₂ energy storage, and energy conversion systems in general. He has submitted several automotive engineering patents and published around 50 Web of Science Core Collection papers and 60+ conference papers, including ~15 SAE technical papers. He has an h-index of 17 (WoS), over 1200 citations, and two Highly Cited Papers. He has supervised over 90 PhD and MSc students (>75 concluded).
