He holds a degree in Industrial Chemistry and a Master's and PhD in Sciences (AC: Inorganic Chemistry) from the Federal University of Santa Maria/RS (UFSM). He has a background in Bioinorganic Chemistry, working with synthesis, characterization and applications for biological purposes of hydrazide and dihydrazide coordination compounds containing first transition series metals, especially cobalt, nickel and vanadium. In this aspect, he has experience in coordination chemistry, self-association chemistry, vanadium chemistry, triphenylphosphonium substituents, mimetic anti- and pro-oxidant activities, interactions with biomacromolecules, and single crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD).
