Dr. Gowhar Meraj is a JSPS Post Doctoral Scientist at the University of Tokyo, having an interest in environmental economics, hydrology, ecosystem services assessment, ecosystem service modeling, glaciology, watershed management, and land surface modeling. He has been associated with the World Bank in collating the research on Indus-Basin Transboundary issues. He holds a Ph.D. Degree in Environmental Science specializing in Climate Change and Water Research. He is currently working as a Young Scientist Fellow under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India’s Scheme for Young Scientist and Technologists (SYST) at the Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. Previously he also worked as Programme Officer on the ENVIS scheme of the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) for five years.
