Abdel Magid Hamouda is Professor in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the College of Engineering, Qatar University. Prior to this, Dr. Hamouda was Head of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, Associate Dean for Academics, and Dean of the College of Engineering, Qatar University. Dr. Hamouda has published over 450 articles, of which over 250 are in well-reputed international journals. In the last five years, he and his team were granted five US Patents. He and his team won the Outstanding Paper Award in the Emerald Literati Awards for Excellence in 2019 and 2020 for their papers published in the Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education. He was honored with the prestigious Takreem Scientific and Technological Achievement Award in 2010, which is the highest award for scientific and technological achievement for Arab scientists globally. He won the Qatar University Merit Award in 2010, 2014, and 2020. Also, he was the winner of the QU Research Excellence Award in 2016 and the QU Service Award. Dr. Hamouda is currently leading major initiatives including an electrical vehicle demonstration car at Qatar University, which is funded by the Japanese company Marubeni as well as the Development of Proactive Resilience Plan (PReP): An Integrated Framework Applied to Industrial Facilities Sector.
