Biography

I am Industrial Engineer and PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Organization. I am accredited as Associate Professor. I am a member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), where I completed a Master’s degree in Machines and Transport and defended my doctoral thesis on the homologation of pedestrian protection systems through virtual testing. I am a member of the MECATRAN Research Group (Experimental Mechanics, Computation and Transport), the Institute for Automobile Vehicle Safety (ISVA), and the Institute for Gender Studies at UC3M. I completed a postdoctoral research stay at the University Institute for Research in Mechanical Engineering and Biomechanics at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), as well as at the Biomechanics Institute of Valencia (IBV), where I specialized in human motion analysis and biomechanical techniques. This training enabled me to develop my own research line focused on injuries resulting from road traffic accidents. I am currently the Principal Investigator of two research projects that aim: to analyze the influence of gender on road safety, with a particular focus on cervical injuries during emergency braking and seat belt use; develop an open-access kinematic database with a representative and diverse sample; improve knowledge of female behavior, as most existing studies are based on male populations; and adapt safety systems considering users’ anthropometric characteristics.
