Dr. Antonis Zorpas is a Chemical Engineer with a Ph.D. in Environmental Management and Engineering.
He is an Associate Professor at the Open University of Cyprus and the Director of the Lab of Chemical Engineering and Engineering Sustainability. He has more than 550 publications (including editing scientific books, contributions to books, and papers in scientific journals and international conferences) with an Google Scholar h-index of 50 (since today). For more than 20 years, he acted as a Consulting Engineer on behalf of several industrial interests. His research background includes strategic planning development in the framework of waste management, circular and bio-economy, waste to energy, biosolid treatment and management, hazardous waste, end of waste criteria, life cycle analysis and environmental risk analysis, SDGs, advanced oxidation processes, etc. He received an honorary distinction for his long-standing contribution to the environmental issues of Cyprus from the President of the Republic of Cyprus (2019). He has been recognized as being among the world's top 2% in the list of scholars (for 4 years in a row) in his field of study (Environmental Science), published recently by a research team at Stanford University (USA).
