Biography

Dr. Manoj Kumar is a Bioinformatics Researcher at the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, Penn State University in the USA. He holds a PhD and a master’s degree in bioinformatics. Dr. Kumar has extensive experience in multi-omics data integration, research design, and high-throughput genomics. Dr. Kumar’s research focuses on microbial genomics and the interactions between hosts and pathogens, combining clinical research with integrated data analysis to enhance surveillance of viral and bacterial zoonotic diseases. His work utilizes whole-genome sequencing (WGS), RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq), metagenomics, and comparative and functional genomics to explore pathogen diversity and host responses. This research supports diagnostics, outbreak investigations, and translational studies. Dr. Kumar applies phylogenomics and population genomics to study the evolution and transmission of pathogens. He integrates structural bioinformatics and genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to link genomic variation with functional and phenotypic traits in pathogens and their hosts. He contributes to peer-reviewed research articles, reviews, and grant proposals, and he actively participates in editorial and peer-review activities for international journals. His professional interests include integrative genomics, reproducible bioinformatics workflows, and research focused on the One Health approach.
