Prof. Dr. José António C. Santos is an integrated researcher of CINTURS (Research Center for Tourism, Sustainability, and Well-being) and a senior lecturer at the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism (ESGHT) of the University of the Algarve (UAlg). Concerning research, he has been actively involved in advancing research in his field and serving the research community as a researcher, editor, supervisor, conference organizer, keynote speaker, and reviewer. He has been invited as a keynote speaker at international academic conferences in Portugal, Spain, France, India, and Vietnam. As a reviewer, he serves on the editorial board and has reviewed papers for nearly 40 academic journals, including Current Issues in Tourism, the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, and the International Journal of Tourism Cities. Regarding academic management, he has assumed the following duties: From 2009 to 2013, he was head of department and assumed this duty again in 2022. From 2013 to 2016, he was co-coordinator of the Support Unit for Research and Publications. From 2016 to 2019, he was the coordinator for the internationalization of ESGHT. Presently, he is conducting research in the following areas: sustainability in tourism and hospitality, event management, gastronomy and tourism, and heritage interpretation.
