Dr. Pierre
Mertiny is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University
of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering (1999) from the University of
Hannover, Germany, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (2005) from the
University of Alberta. His research has
focused on advanced polymer composite materials (including material behavior,
damage mechanisms, failure prediction, and structural health monitoring under
multiaxial loadings), nanocomposite materials, and adhesively bonded joints. He
received a Dedicated Service Award from the American Society of Mechanical
Engineers in 2018.
