Biography

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Oceanography at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Brazil, and an active researcher in Environmental Geochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, and Marine Pollution. My work focuses on bioremediation, phytoremediation, and adsorptive processes for TPHs, PAHs, metals and emerging pollutants, using marine microalgae and biofibers derived from agro-industrial residues. I also investigate blue carbon sequestration and biogeochemical cycling of carbon in mangroves and other coastal ecosystems, applying nature-based solutions (NbS) for environmental restoration. I am a member of the international PEOPLE network (Persistent and Emerging Organic Pollution in the Environment), coordinated by Dr. Bing Chen (Memorial University, Canada), fostering global collaboration on innovative environmental solutions. I welcome opportunities to contribute as a reviewer or editor for leading MDPI journals aligned with my expertise, including Sustainability (2071-1050), Journal of Marine Science and Engineering (2077-1312), Applied Sciences (2076-3417), Polymers (2073-4360), Toxics (2305-6304), and Foods (2304-8158), particularly in areas related to marine biotechnology, marine pollution, pollutant interactions and aggregate formation, oil spill management, remediation, nature-based solutions, adsorptive materials, wastewater, bio-CCUS, blue carbon ecosystems, mangrove and marine ecosystems, biorefineries, and petroleum and environmental geochemistry.
