Carlos Henrique Illa Font (S’04–M’09) was born in Erval Grande, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianopolis, Brazil, in 2001, 2003 and 2009, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Electronics Engineering, Federal University of Technology – Parana, Campus Ponta Grossa. His research interests include power electronics, power factor correction, ac–dc converters, power converters for small-scale renewable energy, and battery energy storage systems. Dr. Illa Font is a Member of the Brazilian Power Electronic Society, IEEE Power Electronics Society and IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.
