He completed his PhD at University Paris Saclay (Formely Orsay university), France, which was followed by postdoctoral stays in Risoe, Denmark and UCSB, USA. He is currently a research director at the French Alternative Energy and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and co-director (as a visiting professor) of the NTU Singapore CEA Alliance for Research in Circular Economy (SCARCE). He joined CEA in 2007 where he was CEA/LETI institutes 'Beyond CMOS" program manager. He then became the deputy director of CEA's Nanoscience transverse program and co-principal investigator of the REE-CYCLE advanced ERC project (2013–2018), aiming to developing new rare earth extraction/recycling processes. He has published more than 75 papers in international peer reviewed journal and is the co-inventor on more than 50 patents and patent applications, many of them dealing with nanomaterials, sensing and recycling. Overall, his career is a mixed, academic and industrial (CNRS/Nanomix Inc/CEA/NTU), in nanoscience, nanotechnologies and recycling process development..
