Jelena Reste, M.D., Ph.D. – occupational physician, associate professor, lead researcher in the Institute of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health, and head of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine of Rīga Stradiņš University (Latvia). Graduated Rīga Stradiņš University (Medical Faculty with a master’s degree in 2003; Division of Postgraduate Education, speciality in occupational medicine in 2007 and pain medicine in 2011, and Division of Doctoral Studies, Ph.D. in 2013, thesis “The Aging Aspects of Humans Protractedly Exposed to Ionizing Radiation”). Worked in the Centre of Occupational and Radiological Medicine of Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (Riga, Latvia) with patients suffering from exposure to occupational hazards and with victims of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. Currently teaches the health effects of environmental and occupational factors to medical students at Rīga Stradiņš University; in parallel, works in the Institute of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health of the same university as lead researcher. Scientific interests: environmental health, the influence of environmental and occupational factors on human health, radiobiology, ergonomics, and musculoskeletal disorders.
