After an MSc in neuropsychology, I investigated the effects of epilepsy surgery on memory and learning in children and adolescents during my PhD. I developed my understanding of statistics and machine learning further in a series of postdoc positions studying the potential use of motor imagery neurofeedback for upper limb rehabilitation in stroke victims. Since 2021, I have moved to civil service at the Office of Risk Assessment and Research of the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA). In addition to a variety of statistical analyses across all domains under the purview of the NVWA, I have started an initiative to develop methods for combining risk-based and representative (random) government controls, in collaboration with the Austrian Agentur für Gesundheit und Ernährungssicherheit (AGES) and supported by funding from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
