Dr. Colín holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from UAM-I, specializing in catalysis. His core research focuses on kinetic modeling, nanostructured catalyst synthesis, and their application in hydrotreatment for pollutant removal, biofuel production, and contaminant adsorption/photocatalysis in air, soil, and water. He also works on photocatalytic hydrogen production. He is proficient in diverse physicochemical characterization techniques including spectroscopy (UV, IR), GC-MS, XRD, AA, TGA/DTG, and high-resolution electron microscopies (SEM, TEM). Dr. Colín has authored 35 scientific articles, holds one patent, and presented approximately 230 conference papers. He has successfully supervised 6 master's and 60 undergraduate theses, with additional master's and doctoral students currently in progress. He was a Chemical Engineering curriculum coordinator. A distinguished academic, he is a SNI (Level I) member (2017-2029) and holds a PRODEP profile (2004-2026). He previously headed the Process Analysis Area (2015-2019). Currently, Dr. Colín is the President of the Mexican Energy Academy A.C., where he organized two international energy congresses (2021, 2023). He serves as Editor-in-Chief for Energy: Science, Technology and Management journal and edits congress proceedings. He is also a Technical Committee member and reviewer for AMIDIQ.
