I am a biogeochemist studying how land ecosystems respond to and shape global environmental change, using both experiments and large-scale research synthesis. At the University of Exeter, I have acted as Programme Director for BSc Geography. I also serve on the editorial boards of multiple scientific journals. To date, I have published over 130 peer-reviewed papers and was recognised as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher for the last three years. In addition, I received a "Distinguished Scientist" award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2024.
