Laura is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Ecology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and a part-time Professor of biogeochemical cycles at Iberoamerican University. During her Masters in Science, Laura examined the effects of land management on carbon and nitrogen cycles in maize agro-ecosystems farmed under traditional and intensive management. For her Ph.D., she is interested in understanding farmers’ decision making related to land management and public policy programs. She is interested in food security, soil biogeochemical cycles, decision making, nature’s contributions, and the well-being of rural communities. Currently, she is working on integrating survey data from farmers to create land management scenarios and build adequate incentives for sustainable food production and commercialization in central Mexico.
