Layheang SONG is currently conducting his PhD research in the field of hydrology and soil erosion with the topic of “Impact of land use and climate change on surface runoff and suspended sediment in the Mekong basin” in double degree programme between Institute of Technology of Cambodia and Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier in France. He obtained his Master’s degree in Hydrology, Risks and Environment from the University of Montpellier, France and received his Degree of Engineer in Water Resources and Rural Infrastructures from Institute of Technology of Cambodia. He was involved in many research projects covering the field of hydrology, agriculture and environment such as groundwater assessment for crop diversification in the dry season, crop modelling for improved nutrient and water management of non-rice crop in Mekong low land area in the dry season, and water quality and sediment assessment in the Tonle Sap Lake.
