Shijie Liu earned a Ph.D. in Geological Resources and Geological Engineering from Chang'an University in 2023. He is now an Associate Professor and M.S. supervisor at the School of Geological Engineering and Geomatics, Chang’an University. His work in engineering geomechanics and stone cultural heritage conservation has resulted in more than 20 SCI-indexed publications, three monographs, and seven authorized invention patents; his memberships include being Secretary of the Engineering Geomechanics Committee of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering; and his awards include the Second Prize for Outstanding Scientific and Technological Research Achievements of Higher Education Institutions in Shaanxi Province. His research interests include natural hazards, engineering geomechanics, progressive failure mechanisms, and engineering geology.
