Prof. Maksim Olegovich Aksenov is head of the Department of Physical Education at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, head of the Laboratory of Sports Genetics at Dorzhi Banzarov Buryat State University (BSU), and chief researcher at the Research Institute of Sport, Russian University of Sport “GTSOLIFK” (since 2018). Previously, he headed the Department of Theory of Physical Culture at BSU. He graduated with honors from BSU in physical culture and sport (2003), completed his PhD studies in pedagogical sciences at BSU (2003–2006), became a doctor of pedagogical sciences in 2016, and has twice been awarded the Prize of the Government of the Republic of Buryatia “Best Young Scientist of the Republic of Buryatia” (2011–2012). He led the project “Laboratory of Sports Genetics” funded by a grant of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science (No. 3842, 2015–2016). He has published more than 200 scientific works, including papers in various journals indexed in WoS and Scopus, two monographs and two patents. He serves as a member of the European College of Sport Science, the Association of Computer Science in Sport and a doctoral dissertation council, as an expert reviewer for MDPI, as well as a federal expert in science and technology for the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education. His teaching disciplines include selection, periodization, statistics and genetics, and his interests include training, genetics, myostatin, hypertrophy and weightlifting.
