Dr. Marco Zeppieri obtained a degree in biology from the University of Toronto in 1992, his medical degree from the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, in 2003, and his specialization in ophthalmology from the University of Udine in 2007. In 2012, he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Udine. He also completed a post-doctoral glaucoma research fellowship at the Discoveries in Sight, Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon, USA, in 2006. He obtained his national qualifications as a second-level university professor in 2018. Since January 2008, he has worked as an ophthalmologist at the Department of Ophthalmology at Santa Maria Della Misericordia Hospital in Udine, Italy. He has won several awards, such as the Best Video SOI (2004), AIGS Travel Grant (2007), and ARVO GB Bietti Foundation for Ophthalmology Travel Grant (2007). His scientific interests include new techniques for the morphological and functional diagnosis of ocular hypertension and glaucoma, the use of stem cells for corneal wound lesions, ocular surface and lid diagnostics and treatments, and community-based screening procedures. He has participated as an invited speaker at numerous national and international ophthalmology conferences. He is a reviewer for numerous international peer-reviewed journals and is the author of over 50 book chapters and indexed scientific publications in international scientific journals.
