Dr. Gherardini received her PhD in BioRobotics from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, in 2022 and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Artificial Hands Laboratory. Her research lies at the intersection of biorobotics and clinical translation, with a focus on assistive and rehabilitation robotics. Her primary interests include developing solutions for individuals with limb amputation, particularly upper-limb prosthetic devices, with an emphasis on human–machine interfaces for intuitive control and sensory feedback. Her recent work focuses on the use of passive implantable magnetic devices and real-time localization algorithms to create bidirectional interfaces for robotic hands, exploiting muscle deformation as a control input.
