Dr. Mengyang Dong is a Research Fellow at The University of Queensland, Australia. He received his PhD in Chemistry from Griffith University (2022), focusing on advanced heterogeneous electrocatalysts for oxygen-related energy conversion reactions.
Dr. Dong’s research centers on electrocatalysis for energy conversion and storage systems, including CO₂ capture and reduction, metal–air batteries, water splitting, and sustainable battery recycling. He has published several high-impact works, including in Advanced Materials, Angewandte Chemie, Applied Catalysis B and Battery Energy, and contributed to a CRC book on metal–air batteries. His work integrates advanced characterization techniques such as synchrotron-based XAS to understand catalytic mechanisms.
He is a member of the Australian Materials Research Society and an EMCR member of the Australian Academy of Science. His research has been recognized by competitive funding, including ANSTO beamline grants and the Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA) program.
