With a BSc in Pharmacy and a PhD in Molecular Biology, my early research focused on uncovering the genetic underpinnings of complex diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and dementia. During my predoctoral training at the Medical Genetics Unit of the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital, I gained hands-on experience in genetic research, which laid the foundation for my subsequent work at Neocodex—a leading Spanish biotech company renowned for establishing one of the largest private DNA banks. At Neocodex, I led the Cardiovascular Research Division, driving innovative studies on the genetic basis of cardiovascular diseases. Later, as the founder and researcher at CAEBi (Andalusian Bioinformatics Research Center), I broadened my scope to include pharmacoepidemiology, leveraging real-world evidence (RWE) alongside conducting clinical trials, working with animal models, and analyzing multi-omics datasets. In early 2024, I joined Biosearch Life SAU, a Kerry company, as a Senior Clinical Scientist. My current research centers on the microbiome and its role in health, with a focus on developing interventions involving nutrients, probiotics, and botanicals to address common diseases and enhance quality of life.
