Mirian has a Bachelors degree in Agronomy and currently pursues her Ph.D. in the laboratory of Pathology and Fungal Genetics at SIU Carbondale. Her research focuses on the biological control of soilborne pathogens by fungal antagonists, the biology of the plant-pathogen-antagonist interaction, and the characterization of microbial communities associated with soybean seedling diseases. During her career as a scientist, Mirian have gained experience while leading numerous research projects in agricultural entomology and plant pathology in field, greenhouse, and laboratory conditions.
