Information

Dr. Mahata holds a Ph.D. in Physics. His thesis work was on the optical properties of photon upconversion nanomaterials. During his doctoral research (2012-2015) at the IIT Dhanbad, he was awarded the prestigious Erasmus Mundus fellowship by the European Commission to study at the Second Institute of Physics, University of Göttingen, Germany where he carried out most of his research works (2013-2015). After submission of his Ph.D. thesis, he was subsequently awarded the Erasmus Mundus fellowship for postdoctoral researchers to work at the University of Göttingen. After that, he moved to GIST, South Korea in 2017 to utilize his research experience and expand his expertise in biophysical chemistry. Dr. Mahata was then promoted to Research Professor at GIST and successfully received a competitive research grant as a PI from the NRF, South Korea. However, at the end of 2020, he was selected for the two renowned research fellowships: the Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) fellowship, Germany, and Marie Curie (MSCA) fellowship, European Commission. Since October 2021, Dr. Mahata is working as a Humboldt fellow. He was awarded by ‘Web of Science’s "Top 1% Peer-Reviewers Awards" in 2019 and 2020, consecutively. He has served/serving as a Guest Editor of Front. Chem. , Rev, Anal. Chem. , Molecules, J. Chem., and Front. Mater. He is a regular reviewer of research grant proposals of Czech Science Foundation and EU funded EURIZON (Horizon 2020) projects.
