Professor Mateusz Kopec graduated from the Military University of Technology (Warsaw, Poland) in Material Sciences (2015). He received his PhD from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Imperial College London in 2020 and his DSc in Experimental Mechanics in 2024. Since 2021, he has been the Head of the Laboratory for Materials and Structures Testing at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research Polish Academy of Sciences (IPPT PAN). He is a Member of the Polish Materials Science Society (PTM), a Member of the Board of the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (PTMTS) and Council Member of the European Society for Experimental Mechanics (EURASEM). He has published over 50 papers in top international journals and received over 30 awards for his scientific and didactic achievements, including the Scientific Award of the Board of the Polish Materials Science Society for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of Materials Science defended in 2020, Scientific Award of Division IV. Technical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences and two Scientific Awards of the Committee of Mechanics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. His main research interests include hot stamping, sheet metal forming, fatigue damage development in power engineering steels and additively manufactured nickel-based superalloys and thermal barrier coatings.
