For the last decade, I have been fully devoted to veterinary professional ethics, at both national and European levels. One the main objectives of my current research fellowship involves the development of a new code of conduct for the Portuguese veterinary profession. Under the Newman Fellowship in Veterinary Ethics at University College Dublin (2014-2016), I have explored the ethical challenges faced by veterinary professionals in Ireland, thus ensuring that governance was fit for purpose. I hold a EBVS® Specialist Diploma in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law. I am currently Vice-President of the Disciplinary Committee of the Portuguese Veterinary Order, and Research Fellow at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Lisbon, Portugal.
