Prof. Markos G Tsipouras was born in Athens, Greece, in 1977. He received a Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Ioannina, Greece, in 1999, and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the same faculty in 2002 and 2008, respectively. He also received a Diploma in Natural Sciences from the Hellenic Open University in 2013. He has worked as a lecturer/assistant professor at various universities and technological institutes in Greece and was elected Associate Professor of Signal Processing at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia, in April 2019, where he has served as Vice President since September 2020. He was also appointed Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction, Imperial College of London in September 2021. He has collaborated in more than 25 European (3rd CSF, FP6, FP7, H2020) and Greek national research programs and currently supervises 6 research programs. He has published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters, while he is co-author of one book and two patents (one national and one PCT). His research interests include digital processing of biomedical signals and images, medical informatics, data mining, fuzzy logic, decision support systems, and expert systems.
