Neyval Costa Reis Jr. is a Full Professor at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), Brazil, and a Research Productivity Fellow of the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UFES and a Master’s and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UK).
His interdisciplinary research integrates fundamental and applied approaches at the interface of clean air engineering, environmental assessment, climate change mitigation and human health. His current work focuses on atmospheric dispersion, air quality modeling, and exposure assessment, with applications in urban environments, industrial regions, health impact studies, and climate change mitigation. His research has contributed to advancing the understanding of pollutant dispersion in complex urban settings, the assessment of human exposure to air pollutants, and the integration of modeling approaches for air quality analysis.
Prof. Reis has secured over USD 11 million in research funding and has held key leadership positions at UFES, including Director of Research and Pro-Rector of Research and Graduate Studies. He currently coordinates major climate-related initiatives, including the Institute of Climatic Studies and state-level decarbonization and adaptation plans.
