Ignacio Fernández is Full Professor at University of Almería since July 2018. He has enjoyed two predoctoral stays at Bath University with Matthew G. Davidson, and at Wurzburg Universität (Germany) with Dietmar Stalke. In 2003, he moved to Zurich (ETHZ) as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Paul S. Pregosin. He stayed in Zurich for three years until he was awarded with a Ramón y Cajal contract in 2006 to return to Almería. After few months in Spain, he decided to move as a visiting professor at Cornell University (New York, USA) in Paul J. Chirik's group, where he stayed for almost a year until he returned in 2008 to the University of Almeria. He has been visiting professor in 2008, 2010 and 2013, at the Karlsrühe Institute of Technology (KIT, Germany). He has published more than 104 articles, four book chapters related to NMR topics, is inventor of three international patents and one software package called DiffAtOnce®: Molecular Diffusion. Since 2014, is head of the research group Advanced NMR Methods and Metal-Based Catalysts. His research interests focus on the application of multinuclear NMR to chemistry problems, the development of new structural platforms based on transition metals and lanthanides for application in synthetic and catalytic processes. Since 2014 he develops research lines related to mathematical algorithms applied to NMR diffusion, and conducts NMR metabolomic studies in agri-food, clinical and materials science fields.
