Dr. Tiziana Orsini is a Senior Research Technologist at the Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (IBBC-CNR) in Rome. She earned her academic formation in Biomedical Sciences from Sapienza University and has been a key figure at CNR since 2010. Throughout her career, she has played a pivotal role in the EMMA/Infrafrontier International Infrastructure and the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC). Initially focused on the biological role of tRNA fragments and gene regulation, her expertise evolved towards high-throughput preclinical phenotyping. She specialized in advanced 3D imaging (Micro-CT, Belgium), becoming the lead expert at the Monterotondo Mouse Clinic for 3D Micro-Computed Tomography (µCT) and virtual histology. Her work is central to characterizing embryonic dysmorphology and complex pathologies, with a recent focus on ciliopathies and the Odad3 model. Dr. Orsini has managed numerous EU-funded projects and has authored notable works in high-impact journals, including Nature Communications, Nature Genetics, and Disease Models & Mechanisms. Since 2022, she holds the position of Senior Research Technologist, overseeing the development of innovative 3D diagnostic methods for preclinical research and coordinating international dissemination of mutant mouse strains.
